HMS Prince, launched at Chatham in 1670, was the finest English 1st rate ships of 17th century and was used to re-establish the English superiority over the Dutch.
HMS Prince was a large ship with a burden of 1463 tons, 131 feet in length, armed with 100 guns and carried a wartime complement of 780 men. She was one of the most powerful 3-decked ships-of-the-line in the Royal Navy.
The ship has very decorative ornamentation all over the vessel but especially on the stern, her service career began in 1672, was the major part of the Third Dutch War.
