U.S Constellation is a frigate launched in 1797, named of 15 stars in the U.S flag of that time. In the history of the sailing vessels, it is difficult to encounter a ship whose activities were as diverse as its use of service.
The US Constellation started life in 1798 and was finally withdrawn from service in 1955. She has ever captured the French 36-gun frigate Insurgente off the Island of Nevis in the West Indies in 1799, defended the Hawaiian Islands against annexation by the British in 1843 and transported food to Ireland during the Great Famine of 1845 - 1849.
