The CUTTY SARK was one of the last sailing clippers to be built in 1869 at Dumbarton in Scotland, launched on November 23 of that year, and she is the only classic clippers still surviving.
This ship was first destined for the China tea trade before 1877, and then she was used in the Australian wool trade. After 1895 she served under the Portuguese flag for another twenty-five years.
Cutty Sark represents one of the most romactic ages in the history of ocean travel, spend most of her time transporting goods around the world, and made the greatest record of sailing.
